SERVING MARYLAND AND WASHINGTON DC

In this segment, Partner James Cardea discusses a case of medication error along with negligence where a 26-year old paraplegic is sedated to the point of never waking up. The hospital staff negligently failed to perform the ongoing, close monitoring as ordered by the physician and as required by the standards of care. Over-medication combined with failure to appropriately monitor the patient, resulted in this patient’s untimely death at the age of 26.
