Founding Partner Kerry D. Staton was recently honored by the Black Law Students Association of his alma mater, the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, as “Practitioner of the Year” at their 39th Annual Scholarship & Awards Banquet. The award is in recognition of Mr. Staton’s professional excellence and positive community impact and comes on the heels of his being named Baltimore’s 2013 “Medical Malpractice Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers®.

Since earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland in 1980, Mr. Staton has built a career protecting patient rights and helping victims of medical malpractice. He has also been an avid community leader, serving on boards for Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service and Maryland Association for Justice, as Commissioner to the Attorney Grievance Commission, and Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation, the Reginald Heber Smith Law Fellowship, and the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference.

It’s this kind of excellence and commitment to service that makes Mr. Staton one of the most respected members of Maryland’s legal community.
