Schochor, Federico and Staton is proud to announce that Managing Partner Jonathan Schochor has been named “Trial Lawyer of the Year” by The Maryland Association for Justice (MAJ). The award is presented annually to a Maryland trial lawyer or team of trial lawyers who have made a significant contribution to the public interest by litigating a case of precedential value.
Mr. Schochor was one of the recipients of the award for his efforts as lead counsel in the unprecedented court-approved $190 million class action settlement on behalf of 8,000 patients of former Johns Hopkins gynecologist Dr. Nikita Levy, who allegedly photographed and video recorded women during examinations. The settlement is reported to be the largest single perpetrator sexual abuse settlement in United States history.
As a founding partner of Schochor, Federico and Staton, Mr. Schochor has been a leader in the field of medical malpractice law for more than 30 years. Under his guidance, Schochor, Federico and Staton has grown to be one of the largest and most successful medical malpractice firms in the region while earning accolades of the highest possible distinction from organizations including Martindale-Hubbell, Super Lawyers and U.S. News – Best Lawyers®.
Mr. Schochor’s recognition as the MAJ’s “Trial Lawyer of the Year” comes on the heels of a number of other accolades this year, including being named to The Daily Record’s list of “2015 Influential Marylanders” and the National Association of Distinguished Council’s “Top One Percent.”
