Schochor, Federico and Staton is proud to announce that Managing Partner Jonathan Schochor has been named Best Lawyers® 2016 “Lawyer of the Year” for Baltimore Medical Malpractice Law – Plaintiffs.
Having already received a number of accolades in 2015, including SmartCEO’s “Cornerstone Award,” the Maryland Association for Justice’s “Trial Lawyer of the Year” and a spot on The Daily Record’s list of “Influential Marylanders,” the Best Lawyers® “Lawyer of the Year” award comes on the heels of Mr. Schochor’s efforts as lead counsel in the unprecedented court-approved $190 million class action settlement on behalf of 8,000 patients of former Johns Hopkins gynecologist Dr. Nikita Levy, who allegedly photographed and video recorded women during examinations. The settlement is reported to be the largest single-perpetrator sexual abuse settlement in United States history.
Best Lawyers® is the oldest and one of the most highly-regarded peer review guides to the legal profession worldwide. Only a single lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area is named “Lawyer of the Year,” making it a particularly significant accolade. Mr. Schochor’s selection was based on the impressive voting averages he received during the exhaustive peer-review assessments Best Lawyers® conducts with thousands of leading lawyers each year, and receiving this designation reflects the high level of respect he has earned among others in the legal community for his abilities, professionalism and integrity.
Mr. Schochor’s recognition marks the third time in the last four years that an attorney from Schochor, Federico and Staton has been named Baltimore Medical Malpractice Law – Plaintiffs “Lawyer of the Year,” as partners Kerry Staton and Phil Federico received the distinction in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
